Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

Anxiety. Depression. Panic. OCD. Phobias. Stress. Overthinking. Sleep.

CBT is practical and present-focused. Together we look at how thoughts, feelings, and behaviors keep a problem going, then change the patterns that aren’t serving you.

It’s structured, collaborative, and research-backed, with skills you can use between sessions. Many people feel a real difference within the first several weeks.

Who it’s for

People dealing with anxiety, depression, panic, OCD, phobias, chronic stress, or sleep trouble, and anyone who wants concrete tools and a clear, structured path forward.

How it works

We map what keeps the problem going, set goals together, and build skills that fit your actual week. Then we track what’s working and adjust as we go.

Common questions

How long does CBT take?

CBT is often shorter-term and goal-oriented. Many people notice meaningful change within the first several weeks, though timelines vary with what you’re working on.

Will I have homework?

Often, yes. Small, doable practices between sessions are where a lot of the change happens, and we tailor them to your life.

Does insurance cover CBT?

Yes. CBT is a standard covered treatment under the plans we’re in-network with: Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, and Carelon. We verify your benefits before your first session, so the copay is never a surprise.

Does CBT work over video?

Well, and the research backs that up. Because CBT is structured and skills-based, it translates to telehealth better than most approaches. We offer it in our Long Beach office or by video anywhere in California.

Does CBT ignore the past?

No. It starts from the present because that’s where the pattern is running, but where a pattern came from often matters too. Many of our therapists blend CBT with psychodynamic work when history is part of the picture.
