EMDR

Single-Event Trauma. Flashbacks. Stuck Memories. Childhood Patterns. Anxiety.

EMDR helps the brain finish processing memories that got “stuck,” so events that still feel raw can settle into the past where they belong.

You won’t have to talk through every detail. Using bilateral stimulation, EMDR can reach relief where talk therapy alone stalls, gently and at your own pace.

Who it’s for

People with single-event trauma, flashbacks, stuck memories, or long-standing patterns from childhood, especially when talk therapy alone has stalled.

How it works

Using gentle bilateral stimulation, EMDR helps your brain reprocess memories that got stuck, so they lose their charge and settle into the past, without needing to narrate every detail.

Common questions

Do I have to describe the trauma in detail?

No. One of EMDR’s strengths is that it works without you having to talk through every detail, relief can come without re-telling the whole story.

Is EMDR hypnosis?

No. You’re fully awake, aware, and in control the entire time. You can stop at any point, and your therapist checks in with you throughout. Nothing happens to you. You’re doing the processing; the bilateral stimulation just helps.

What does an EMDR session actually look like?

You briefly bring a memory to mind while following a back-and-forth cue, eye movements or alternating taps, in short sets with check-ins between each one. Sessions start and end with grounding, so you leave settled.

How many sessions does EMDR take?

For a single-event trauma, processing sometimes resolves in a handful of sessions after preparation. Longer or layered histories take more time. Once we understand what you’re working with, we’ll tell you what to expect.
